Evidence for Low Dissolved Silica in mid-Mesozoic Oceans

We measured δ30Si in sponge spicules across the Triassic–Jurassic boundary (ca. 201 Ma). DSi concentrations ranged 20–90 μM, lower than expected, suggesting sponges may play a role in Si cycling.
