Bistability of interfacial long waves in two layer Couette flow

arXiv:2511.20880v1 Announce Type: new
Abstract: This paper investigates the stability of interfacial long waves in two-layer plane Couette flow using an asymptotic model developed in Kalogirou et al. (2016) to match the experimental findings of Barthelet et al. (1995). Concentrating on the bistable regime, we show a remarkable agreement with the asymptotic model, both qualitatively and quantitatively. The two stable traveling waves are identified and their basins of attraction characterized via different initial conditions.
